Tab Wrangler: Close Inactive Tabs After Defined Time Interval [Chrome]

If you work with too many tabs and forget to close unused ones then, Tab Wrangler is a Chrome extension can be the perfect fit for you. With it, you can get rid of all the clutter tabs create, and browse the web more efficiently, without worrying about unused tabs. It automatically closes tabs that have been inactive for a certain amount of time. By default, the time to automatically close inactive tabs is set to seven minutes, but users can set their desired time from the options. Tab Corral, another great feature, lets you open tabs that were automatically closed, so you can always reopen the important ones.

The extension adds a button to the toolbar which can then be used to access Tab Corral, Tab Lock and Options. The Tab Corral options allows you to view and open tabs that have been auto-closed for you. Moreover, you will be able to view the time that has passed since the tabs were closed. To open tabs that were closed, simply click the tab titles.

The Tab Lock option allows you to lock tabs. You can also enter URLs for tabs to auto-lock them; however, the extension’s lock feature wasn’t functional during our testing.

The Options category allows you to lock tabs that were inactive for a certain amount of time. By default, the time is set to seven minutes, but you can easily change it by entering the number of minutes in the Options category.

There’s probably a lot of other extensions like Tab Wrangler available in the Chrome Web Store but this extension has quite a few things going for it that would set it apart. For starters, the extension has a good clean interface. It isn’t what you would regard as exemplary design, but as far as simple layouts go, Tab Wrangler hits it on the mark.

The other good thing about the extension is that it isn’t just a bare bone bit of code that will retire tabs when the clock on them runs out. The extension is intelligent; it allows you to manage how your tabs are closed. You can lock certain tabs to keep them from closing and there is always a window to open any closed tabs.

Tab Wrangler is a simple but useful tool for people who work with a bunch of open tabs and find it difficult to manage them. The extension can be installed from the link below.
