So the Photon 4G with it’s impressive hardware and and an equally impressive 540 x 960 pixels 4.3” screen, is surprisingly limited regarding multi touch input. 2 touch points aren’t exactly categorized as multi touch now. If you’re into Android games, such as Fruit Ninja, Cut The Rope or use emulators on your device that use on screen joysticks and buttons, chances are this 2 touch point system in the Photon 4G is going to give you some serious limitations. Even if you do manage it somehow, if a 3rd finger slides onto the screen while playing, consider things going wrong in a second, and that has already happened to a lot of us. Thanks to XDA-Developers forum member michael0619 who originally brought out a multi touch mod for the Atrix 4G, the mod has evolved and found itself working for the Photon 4G, allowing 8 touch inputs on the device. Frankly, 8 points are a bit too much, but 2 were equally ridiculous.

Enable 4G In Custom ROMs On Motorola Photon 4G [Guide]
So if you own a Photon 4G and were quick to install a custom ROM to it, chances are that the phone has lost the 4G capability along with that. Things seem to be on the on the roll for the Photon 4G with development for the device moving at a fast pace. From when it was first rooted as soon as it arrived on the scene, we now come across the second custom ROM for the device that is Moto Blur based. With the bootloader unlocked one would expect some pure Android ROM to be released, but hopefully that shall happen soon. For now, you only have two custom ROMs available for the device and this would be the latest one. Named Alien ROM, it has been developed by XDA-Developers forum member kennethpenn and is a mix of Gingerbread and Blur with an added green theme to it.

It was only a day or two back that the Motorola Photon 4G had its bootloader unlocked, and with that it seems like the development for the device is really gearing up. Photon 4G owners! We have confirmation that the bootloader for your device has been unlocked thanks to XDA-Developers forum member Yay 4 Juggs. This is huge news considering the Droid 3 and Bionic are to be released soon and this gives the devices a very good chance at a possible unlocked bootloader in the future. Even though the devices are different to each other, this just goes of to show that if it can be done on the Photon 4G, there’s a good chance it may happen for those two devices as well. As for now, it is the owners of the Photon 4G that are uber excited.

We have confirmation that the Bootstrap custom recovery app is working for the Motorola Photon 4G Android phone. The Photon 4G was only recently rooted, and thanks to efforts of developers over at XDA, especially those who worked on making Bootstrap working on the Droid X2, the Photon 4G has successfully managed to run the ClockworkMod custom recovery without any issues at all. The APK – as are all the bootstrap recoveries built into – is a direct pull from the Droid X2 and according to bane449 who put his device up for testing, and according to the feedback on the forums, this seems to work as it should.

The Motorola Atrix 4G set the trend for what is now known as Motorola’s Webtop technology, allowing you to turn your device into a mini laptop in a few seconds by placing it into a dock.
