Overclock HTC DROID DNA To 1.8GHz With Beastmode Kernel

HTC finally released the source code for the DROID DNA, while Verizon decided to locked down the bootloader. However, that didn't keep the developer community from doing something about it, and the bootloader was shortly unlocked, paving the way for custom kernel development. In the latest development on the kernel side, ‘Team blackout’ has just released the aptly named  Beastmode kernel that will rev up the DNA’s CPU frequency to 1.8GHz, with added overclocking for the GPU and FSB! You wonder if 1.5GHz is insufficient on Quad Core, and no it is not. DoomRecovery Brings Touch Based Custom Recovery For Sony Xperia S

The Xperia S gets a touch based custom recovery, called DoomRecovery, based on the famous ClockworkMod Touch recovery, thanks to the efforts of renowned XDA-Developers forum member and developer DooMLoRD. Credit also goes to Napstar from Team UtterChaos for adding in the touch capabilities to the recovery, Frosty666 for the vibration triggers, FreeXperia Team (Bin4ry & jerpelea) and of course, Koush.The recovery is based on the sources from the CWM 5.0.2.x but quite a few changes have been made to bring you the DoomRecovery including some really cool aesthetics. Flash Recovery & Kernel Images On Android While Booted

A few select HTC and Samsung Android phones have just received an app that lets you flash kernel and recovery images straight from within the Android OS (while booted). The app, called Flash Image GUI, comes to us from XDA-Developers forum member joeykrim, and is basically a GUI interface for the Linux binary. The app can flash kernels, logos, and recoveries on the Samsung Moment, Intercept and Acclaim. Devices like the Samsung Epic however can only flash the kernels (zImage). The HTC Amaze 4G, EVO 3D CDMA & GSM, EVO, EVO Shift, Nexus S / Nexus S 4G and the LG Optimus get to flash kernels (anykernel & boot.img) and recoveries (zip or image files). Read More

The G-Slate development is picking up pace. This newly released custom kernel meant for the G-Slate running Honeycomb 3.1 is testament to that. RootzWiki forum member ChifzReloaded, who was also responsible for bringing us the bootloader unlock, has released a custom kernel, that, for now isn’t fancy at all, but according to him, it is faster than the current stock one. Galaxy Nexus hits 1.4Ghz! The device is still to reach most eager Android users, and the device has already begun receiving overclocked kernels and revving it up. XDA-Developers forum member coolbho3000 has recently released a kernel based on the latest sources in AOSP. While the kernel brings in 1.4Ghz overclock to the CPU on the Galaxy Nexus, the GPU clock has been increased from 307Mhz to 384Mhz, and the annoying Volume Down key interference has been removed as well. The HTC Vivid gets overclocked to 1.89Ghz! For a dual core Android device, this is huge! The Vivid, currently running Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, originally comes powered at 1.2Ghz (dual-core of course) and is a power house with its massive 4.5” screen and 1080p@60 frames video recording capability. You will have to admit, that the specs really do scream out aloud and are more then enough to cope with many media intensive tasks. However for some, enough, is not acceptable. T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II T989 users have a hit gold! Thanks to XDA-Developers forum member zedomax users of the T989 model finally have a chance at enabling USB Host support on their device via an OTG cable. This can be done so via a custom kernel that zedomax has spent almost a week on so hats off to the guy! The kernel is very easy to install, being recovery flashable (as in you can install it via a custom recovery if you have it installed). Now the kernel may not exactly be bug free, but for the most part it is and for the function it was meant to serve, it lives up to it remarkably well.
