If you’re a music lover, you must have heard about hype machine, a web service that keeps track of the bloggers across the world wide web that write about the best music available. This not only saves you time to find that awesome tune you might have wanted to listen to, but also keeps you stumbling upon the latest and greatest music trends around internet. If you want to experience the love of hype machine on your desktop, then meet Hypegram, a beautiful and elegant application that will let you stream music right on your desktop. This tool will also help you keep up with all the latest and popular songs that people have been sharing on the various blogs. Keep reading for an in-depth review of the application.
Update: This app is no longer available.
After launching the app, the first thing you will notice is it’s eye-candy interface. The black leather theme is eye popping, and feels real pleasant to look at. You can browse the music in two ways, Popular and Latest. In case you want to find a particular song that suits your taste, you may use the search function to find your music by Artist, Track and Genre. The interface comprises six tabs on the left for navigation, while current track’s info is displayed to the right, such as name, artist, album art etc.
If you like a song, you can always add it to your favorites and they will appear under the Loved category. Likewise, you can share a song on your Twitter account for your followers. However, for this, you’ll need a hype machine account, which I will highly recommend if you want to enjoy quality music on the internet.
After a successful sign up, you can subscribe to your favorite music blogs. When you select any category, all the tracks are displayed in the mid-left section of the application, and you can use your mouse wheel to slide the list up or down. To play a song, just click it and the playback will automatically start. The steaming quality is awesome, and every song literally plays to the best quality, so you won’t need to download it off some other source.
If you want to find more information regarding current track on its source blog, just click the Cloud icon on the lower right of the song’s album art, and it will take you to its original blog.
Overall, Hypergram is a great new way of finding music on the internet. If you love internet radio, then this will be one of your must-have applications. It works Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
