Change Orientation Of PowerPoint 2010 Presentation Slides

PowerPoint 2010, unlike previous versions, offers a wide range of features and tools to help you manage and adjust slides. Be it text position, embedded object size and position on slide, table data, animation, image etc., you can easily organize multiple objects on the slide without having to open each element’s menu. Sometimes, we need to add multiple objects to our slides, which in turns make it difficult to adjust the all the items added to the slide. If you’re dealing with such a presentation slide which includes multiple objects, along with text and image, you can choose to change the orientation of the slide, so that your audience can easily understand the connection between the added objects. PowerPoint 2010 provides you with two slide orientations namely Portrait and Landscape.

Apart from numerous slide design-related controls and themes, you can quickly change the slide orientation from Slide Orientation pull-down menu, accessible from Design tab on the ribbon. You may know that the default orientation of all presentation slides is set to Landscape, and apparently there is no simple way to permanently change the default orientation of slides. However, if you want to tweak the default height and width of both Portrait and Landscape orientations, open Page Setup (present under Design tab), and specify the required height and width for each orientation. Here, you can also set the required aspect ratio for each mode. For instance, if you select Landscape, then you switch between 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio modes.

In order to change the orientation from Landscape to Portrait, head over to Design tab and select Portait option, as shown in the screenshot below.
