How To: Root Samsung Captivate And Vibrant With A Single Click

Finally there is some great news for Samsung Captivate and Vibrant owners. Now you can root your handsets with a single click using the method we posted earlier.

Here is the step by step guide on rooting your Samsung Captivate/Vibrant with a single click:

If you are planning to use this guide on Windows X86 or X64 then make sure to download Samsung drivers before embarking on the root process. This rooting application requires Dot Net Framework Version 4 to work.


  1. Before doing anything else, make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your handset. You can navigate to Menu>> settings >> Applications >> Development and then check mark USB debugging.
  2. Once you have enabled debugging on your Samsung Vibrant or Captivate, Download the one click root file, extract the content and save it to your desktop [or wherever you prefer].
  3. After you have downloaded and extracted the zip file, plug your phone to the computer and double click the One-Click executable.
  4. Now simply click the on-screen option for rooting your handset running Android 2.1 Eclair or Android 2.2 Froyo.
  5. Follow the same procedure if you want to un-root your handset.
  6. There you go! If you have followed these instructions and onscreen instructions of the software then your Samsung Vibrant/Captivate is now rooted. Enjoy!

    After manually trying to get into recovery mode I was unable to, no matter what key combinations, I scoured the web and nothing. After following all the steps on this page to the ‘T’ i was able to get into recovery mode and get this awesome phone rooted. I thank you for your help!! Finally I can unlease the power of this Vibrant by applying the Lag fix! Thank you thank you!!

    hey i need u help plzzz…when i check mark USB debugging. & plug the cable into my pc its came out a >>!<< on top of my phone & my pc say FOUND NEW HARDWARE & WINDOWS NEED TO INSTALL DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOU SAMSUNG_ANDROID.and when i try to install that its say I NEED A CD FROM SAMSUNG_ANDROID ….plzz help ,i really want to root my vibrant sooo bad : / …thank you for you help :)

    A couple of questions, forgive the ignorance:

    1. Does this actually wipe the phone? (SMS, Settings, Apps, etc.)?
    2. What about stock apps that I DO like? Is Swype still intact?
    3. Can I receive OTA updates while rooted?
    4. Is there an “unroot” that will allow me to get OTA updates?
    5. If yes to questions 3 and 4, will re-rooting bring me back to 2.1?

    I think that I’ve followed the steps exactly, but it doesn’t seem as though my phone is booting into android system recovery. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

    I have gotten the phone into the desired mode, however, I always get the error, E:Can’t open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation aborted.

    Having a Samsung vibrant with android 2.2, updated from 2.1 with Kies…after selecting usb debugging and installing drivers i try to use your one click root, but when selecting root 2.2 the phone boots into recovery OK, BUT when choosing reinstall packages i get the error, in red text, “E:signature verification failed Installation aborted.”
    Any Ideas? i updated to Froyo this month..

    Yo Dev, how about an update, and or some more info.
    I too have a SGS Vibrant (T-Mobile), and I updated to 2.2 (Froyo) via USB+Kies, and I can’t get this “one click root” app to work.
    Any idea’s?

    I don’t get the option to ‘apply update.zip’

    I get -
    reboot system now
    reinstall packages
    delete all user data
    delete cache data
    format internal sd-card

    Any one got any idea what I’m doing wrong?

    I get the same thing as listed above. Updated to 2.2 and when I hit REINSTALL PACKAGES, it says E:SIGNATURE VERIFICATION FAILED.

    Ideas?

    why couldn’t you just provide a link for this one root? i have spent 10 minutes trying to find which program to use, as the oneroot forums say the galaxy s captivate is not compatible.
