Gone are the days when architecture apps were only available on PCs and the software alone could cost you a fortune. Now, there are many free mobile apps that let you make your very own 3D models and objects, and access them from anywhere you want, thanks to the connected world of mobile devices and cloud computing. We reviewed Autodesk FormIt for iOS
last year, and the company has recently brought the app to Android as well. I must acknowledge that despite rarely finding myself drawing 3D objects, Autodesk FormIt
for Android left me fairly impressed. FormIt boasts a truckload of features, and they all work as advertised. It’s designed to help you model buildings, draw different types of objects, and view them in 3D right on your smartphone or tablet. More to follow after the jump.

There are plenty of photo editing apps for iOS and Android that demonstrate how good a touch environment can be for sketching and intricate image editing. While such photo editors are not often used for professional purposes, they do showcase the potential that devices like the iPad can offer. Autodesk FormIt
is a new iPad app that can be used for 3D modeling of buildings and other objects. There are other apps that let you do that, but FormIt has the edge over them due to the fact that it lets you load maps of any area, so that you can place your model on them and check out the effects sunlight will have on the structure during different times of the day (Shadow Study). You can import images too, merging existing photos (or rather, satellite images) with maps and models.
A proper packaging and cover design is one of the most important aspects of selling your products. Perhaps that's the reason many marketers put an utmost effort behind product packaging. Nobody likes a dull and boring product packaging anyway, as it raises hundreds of questions in our mind about quality and durability of the commodity in question. And as it's the first thing that we get our hands on, during any product purchase, both the design pattern and box style should be appealing to the buyers. Well, you might have noticed those thumbnail virtual cover boxes that are embedded into most software websites. If you have been wondering how to design one of your own, then give 3D Cover Box Designer
a try. It is a small application that allows you to create virtual 3D cover boxes for any software product you might be selling, and embed the image on your web page. In fact, you can create a cover box for any product that you want to showcase on the web. The supported output image formats include JPEG, BMP and PNG, and it provides both the 2D and 3D pattern view of the designed boxes. Whilst customizing all the respective sides of the box, you can also change the background color, as well as ambient and directional light according to your preferences.
