How To Enable Windows 7 Auto Login Feature For Only A Defined Number Of Times

When you create multiple users or set a password for an user account in Windows, you are required to enter the password every time you log in to Windows. This feature adds security layer to user account access, but it asks you to enter the User Account password every time you turn on your PC. You may know that both Windows 7 and Windows 8 allow users to directly login to Windows without entering a password. Using the Advanced User Accounts Control Panel (netplwiz), you can easily disable enter password to logon to Windows option. This utility also allows system administrator to specify his/her password to automatically log on to his/her account without having to enter the password. Nevertheless, enabling the auto login feature makes password-protected User Account vulnerable to external attacks. Read More

In contrast to previous versions of Windows, Windows 8 includes two options to log in; you can create local account or choose to sign in with Microsoft Account (formally known as Windows Live account). If you choose to sign in with your Microsoft Account, you will be able to automatically synchronize your settings, including internet history, shortcuts, application settings, password for services etc., with other Windows 8 PCs and tablets. By default, it asks you to enter the Microsoft Account login information to begin synchronizing your PC setting, but you can easily create a local account and then convert it into Microsoft Account. In this post, we will guide you through the process of creating both Microsoft and Local User accounts, and configuring PC Sync settings. Read More

Want to tweak with Windows users account settings and view statistics of each account without having to open Windows group policy editor? Windows doesn’t provide a feature to configure advance user profile settings, but Accounts Tuner does. It allows you to not only configure user profile settings but shows statistics regarding most recent logon, password age, bad password count, etc. Along with your local computer connected in a network, you can also choose to view user login and other information regarding the server. Verify Domain Users With User Authentication Against Active Directory

Verification of Active Directory users in a Domain environment can sometimes be a tricky task. This is particularly the case when a system displays an error while logging in the Domain user. This can happen due to a number of reasons which can be separate from the Active Directory and actually tied to the system in use. I once faced this problem when someone erased the Default User profile from a computer. One can spend a long time trying to understand such a problem if the user is restricted to a single system and logon is barred on other computers. This makes it even difficult to verify if there is a problem with the Active Directory user or the system itself. For example, an expired password or synchronization issue with the Domain can lead to temporary problems like the users account being locked. Read More

Windows 7 provides a build-in option to manage user profiles locally but what if you want to access the user accounts of multiple computers within a domain? Administrators have to routinely visit the computer in the domain and change the settings locally, this is obviously a time wasting and tiresome method which is implemented in most workplaces. Having Windows user profiles in their default location poses the risk of losing all profile data in the event that the operating system gets corrupted. Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not come with any built-in option to change the default user profile location, and hence, the risk remains. Profile Relocator offers a solution by giving users the flexibility to change default profile directory. Read More

Before we begin, first lets understand why does a user need to access some programs under different account. There are some applications who’s advanced settings can only be accessed through the account which was used to install it. For example. you used Account B to install an application and are currently using Account A, now you want to access the advanced settings of this application, will you do? The only way is to switch to different account, change settings, and finally switch back, but now there is an easier way to do it.

Advanced Run is a free utility that adds “Advanced Run” option to right-click context menu, with it you can open any program under any windows account easily.

When you start Windows 7 or Vista, you are presented with a list of available users accounts. This feature is good when multiple people use the computer frequently but it is totally pointless when you are the lone user of the computer. If you are a single user who access the computer, it is possible to set Windows Vista to login directly to desktop instead of showing you multiple accounts, it can save you some serious time and effort when your computer is starting up.
