Here’s one thing about contact apps; they are all practically the same. But Ready for Android, on other hand, has tried to reinvent the wheel by bringing the most common communication options, that is making phone calls, sending text messages or exchanging emails, right upfront. Instead of bogging down your device with obtrusive features, Ready wants to make things simpler than ever. And on top of that, Ready’s beautiful interface is incredibly intuitive and easy to use.
Ready is still in early beta, and you can become one of the lucky testers by simply joining its Google+ community by visiting this link.
After joining the community, head over to this page, and click ‘Become a tester’ as demonstrated in the screenshot below. You will then be provided with Ready’s Google Play Store link allowing you to download the app on your device.
The basic premise behind Ready is quite similar to that of many other contact and caller apps; to let you tinker with your address book. But in addition, it also lets you tackle how you interact with incoming call notification, where you can choose how to communicate back with your contact in numerous ways. When launched, you need to sign in to your Google account first, and then go through the brief tutorial.
The best bit about Read is its neat and elegant UI. It lists contacts in an entirely new fashion, lets you navigate the list via a circular dial, and view contact thumbnails that appear big and bold. On Ready’s contacts screen, you can swipe right or left to navigate between all contacts and favorites. You can tap on a contact to view additional information, of course, as well as edit what’s already saved.
The app is not just about viewing your address book, but also about how you interact with an incoming call. When you get a call, you can swipe right on the photo to accept the call or swipe left to reject it. It also shoots a few additional options at you regarding how to communicate, i.e. you can choose to call them back, text them, meet them or send them an email. Additionally, it lets you view complete caller history where you can view your previous communication methods with that caller and time, for example, how many minutes or hours ago you rejected or accepted their call, or whether you have already tried approaching them on Hangouts.
In a nutshell, if you’re looking for a beautiful contacts app, Ready is definitely worth giving a shot.
