If you’re a devoted Firefox user and have been jealous of Chrome’s instant search, your days of envy are over. With a simple Firefox add-on, you can get Chrome-like instant search in your favorite Firefox browser. Presenting InstantFirefox!
For those of our readers who aren’t aware of what this is about, Google Chrome’s instant search is a feature that interacts with Google’s search API and shows search results in real-time as you type in the address bar (or smart bar) in Chrome. InstantFirefox replicates this same phenomenon for Firefox, and while it may lack the aesthetics of Chrome, it doesn’t lose anywhere when serving its purpose.
While a screenshot here cannot even describe what the effect feels like, here’s a meager attempt at trying to show the results.
As you can see in the screenshot, there is no search bar on this search results page, because it has been populated as a result of InstantFirefox.
Here’s an interesting video from the developer showing this extension in action.
We tested InstantFirefox add-on with Firefox 3.6.11
