Disable Recent Search Suggestions From Windows 7
By default Windows Explorer has Recent Search Suggestions enabled in Windows 7. If you are one of those users who are looking to disable it due to various reasons, then this guide is for you.
First open Group Policy Editor by typing gpedit.msc in the Start search and hit Enter.
From the left pane navigate to the following directory:
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Explorer
Now from the main window, right-click Turn Off Display Of Recent Search Entries In The Windows Explorer key and select Edit.
Select Enabled as shown in the screenshot below and click OK.
Now go ahead and close the Group Policy Editor and try searching in the Windows Explorer, you won’t find recent search suggestions any more. It’s that easy. Enjoy!
