PicSee Pro For iPhone: Photo Editor That Lets You Remove Unwanted Backgrounds

PicSee Pro iOS
Adobe Photoshop is one of the best, most comprehensive tools for professional-level image editing, but you don’t always want to use something as complicated as that to make minor changes to your ordinary photos, especially when they are on your iPhone. There are so many good casual photo editors available for iOS that you hardly ever need to transfer your photos to your computer for editing. However, there are a few tasks that are still really difficult to perform on an iPhone, and one such feat is the removal of background from the photo of an object or person. Not many image editors come with the background removal option, even the otherwise feature-rich ones. Fortunately, PicSee Pro is not one of those apps. Not only does it have all the usual photo effects, filters and coloring options, it has a whole menu dedicated to background editing and removal. Details past the break. Read More

Solid-Explorer-Android-Thumb
Google Play Store is filled with plenty of quality file explorers and file management apps for Android. As we saw in our compilation of the ten best Android file explorers, you have apps ranging from multi-pane file explorers to those that let you explore and edit root directories. Arguably the best and most feature-rich ICS-themed file explorer to hit the Google Play Store yet, Solid Explorer (currently in beta) seems to pack enough features to topple most (if not all) of its competitors. To begin with, this root-level file explorer expedites your file management needs by providing you with a user-friendly dual-pane interface, complete with all the usual features that you’d find in a contemporary file browser. The interface may not follow all Holo UI conventions, but it looks great nevertheless and is a treat to use. Maneuvering files between various directories can be done through simple drag-and-drop gestures, whereas batch selection of content is enabled by default. MegaCloud For Android Allows On-The-Go Media Streaming From 5 GB Of Free Cloud Storage

MegaCloud-Android-Banner.jpg
Cloud storage services seem to be arriving left, right and center these days. In just the past few weeks, we’ve seen Google Drive transform into a reality; Maxthon released Skyfile, whereas earlier this morning, LG jumped in with LG Cloud for Android. Another cloud storage service called MegaCloud has been around for quite some time now, catering to the online data storing, syncing and sharing needs of Windows, Mac and iOS users. The service has just released its official Android client too, which means that you can now remotely access, manage and share your MegaCloud content anywhere on the go. MegaCloud has been throwing an initial offer of 5GB of free cloud storage space to anyone who registers for a new account, and once you install its official mobile client, you are rewarded with an additional 1GB of storage space. Using the mobile client of MegaCloud, you can upload almost any file type to the cloud, and stream photos, videos and music files natively (video and music streaming does not seem to be working currently), without having to download the content beforehand. Jolicloud For iPhone & Android: All Your Social Media Photos, Links & Videos Under One Hood

Jolicloud iOS
Jolicloud is not a new name when it comes to cloud integration of data, as the web version of the service has been around for quite a while and has managed to gain considerable popularity among users. The idea behind Jolicloud is rather simple, albeit infinitely useful. This service lets you manage all your data and media content, from all your social network and other online accounts, by treating it as if it belonged to the same source. In Jolicloud, the content you shared on a particular date is displayed on the timeline, regardless of the source of the content. This means that a Facebook photo and a link from Twitter might appear next to each other if they were shared at the same time. The services that can be linked to your Jolicloud account include just about all the popular ones, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr and many others, making Jolicloud a truly useful integrator for all the content that matters. Update: Jolicloud is now available on Android as well. We've added a link to its Google Play Store page at the end. Read More

Shoot & Edit Slow-Motion HQ Videos With Your iPhone Using SloPro

SloPro-Settings.jpg
Videos that are rich in action appear even more dramatic if they are played in slow-motion, and with the right sound effects int he background. SloPro is an iOS app that allows users to shoot videos in slow-motion, and that too, in high quality. There are a few video editing options available in the app as well, which allow you to adjust the frame rate and other aspects of your action sequences. The app also has a default soundtrack that is applied to each clip. This cancels out the original sound in the video by default, but you can opt to keep that as well. So, the app can be used for two main purposes; creating slow motion videos and suppressing undesirable background noise. Read More

Download & Install Custom Boot Animations To Your Rooted Android Device With AniBoot

AniBoot-Android-Preview6
Previously reviewed BootFlash by XDA member, SoCal Devs, allowed Android users to set a custom image of choice as their device’s splash screen – the static screen that shows up immediately after the device (re)boots. What follows the splash screen is the boot animation that normally sports the OEM logo (in case of the stock firmware) or the animated logo/mascot of the custom ROM developer. What if you were to get rid of your device’s monotonous boot animation, and personalize it according to an animation of your own liking? Well, there are a couple of workarounds in this regard: you may either follow all the extensively discussed steps in our detailed guide on changing and creating custom Android boot animations, or you can simply install SoCal Devs’ new app, AniBoot, which features dozens of downloadable boot animations which can be applied to any rooted Android device in no more than a couple of taps. The app supports boot animation in three different screen resolutions – 800x480, 1024x768 & 1280x720 – each comprising at least a dozen various boot animations. Each boot animation can be previewed individually, and if it catches your eye, you can download and apply it to your device in a matter of just a few seconds. Read More

SaveGram For Android: Batch-Download Photos From Any Public Instagram Profile

SaveGram-Android-Thumb
If the reputation of the popular photo-editing and sharing sensation, Instagram, was impressive among iOS users, the debut of its Android client in the Google Play Store has been nothing less than a fairy tale. First, the app almost instantly shot up to the number one spot among Android apps from the social genre, then the service itself got acquired by the social network giant, Facebook, at a staggering price of $1 billion. The official Android (or even iOS) client of Instagram is good at letting you apply retro filters on your photos and share them on the network, but what if you wished to download your entire Instagram photo collection to your newly bought Samsung Galaxy Note? What if you were to add to your local image library all the gorgeous snaps that your Instagram followers have uploaded on the network publicly? To those who like to stay up to date with the latest news regarding the jailbreak world, SAM is nothing new by any means. You must also have heard of the new method through which it has become possible to carrier-unlock any jailbroken iPhone on any baseband and firmware, in a few simple steps (discussed here in detail). Although the method seemed to be a blessing from the heavens, Apple was quick to react, and is in the process of updating their servers to block the SAM unlock altogether. The jailbreak community, as always, is one step ahead. Enter Cookie, a Cydia tweak that backs up your activation ticket to the cloud, so that you can restore it at any time you want! Read More

Use Siri To Search & Download Images From The Web With JpgToSiri [Cydia]

JpgToSiri-Photo.jpg
Not that Siri isn’t already pretty useful, but for those who feel it could have been better in some aspects, there are many Cydia tweaks that enhance the talking assistant's abilities. If you have a jailbroken iPhone 4S, or any other device with access to Siri (through SiriPort, for instance), there are some really cool things you can make Siri do. However, there aren’t many tweaks that combine usefulness and fun in as perfect a proportion as the newly released JpgToSiri does. JpgToSiri, as the name implies, adds the ability to search photos through Siri. You can simply ask Siri to show you a photo of anything, and a random JPEG image will appear right within the conversation. Not just that, users can even save the images to their camera roll, or share them with friends. This means that the tweak converts Siri into a pretty decent image search engine! Read More

Gifture For iPhone: Create GIF Animations, Apply Filters & Share, Instagram Style

Gifture-Filters.jpg
The popular photo sharing service, Instagram, has had such a huge impact on the development environment for iOS, that there are many apps which copy Instagram’s functionality, while another large contingent of apps borrow the basic idea behind it, but switch a key component with something else. Gifture is an iPhone app that falls in the second category, and is designed to be the Instagram for animations. Animations have always been popular among users, but they weren’t really widespread, as it wasn’t easy in the past to create them. This, however, changed with the multitude of apps that allow easy GIF creation, making it possible for even the novice users to showcase their creativity in this domain. Gifture does that, but that’s just a part of its working. Once you have created animations using the app, you can edit them in Gifture’s own editor, which incorporates a number of beautiful filters, and bunldes the option to choose the frame rate at which the animation is played. Then, you can share the animation over the apps own network, or publish it to other social media. Read More

Disable iOS Notification Center While Running Full-Screen Apps [Cydia]

DisableNC-Switch-iOS.jpg
Some time back, we covered a Cydia tweak by the name of DisableNC, which allowed jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch users to avoid accidentally pulling down the Notification Center while playing games. DisableNC is basically an SBSettings toggle, which is added to the SBSettings panel, and can be controlled from there. While everything about DisableNC worked absolutely fine, it had one major shortcoming - it cannot be used for full screen apps other than games. If you are an iOS user, you must be aware of the fact that most apps work in full screen mode, and pulling down the notification center while using them is almost as annoying as doing it in games. This is why DisableNC Switch has been released in the Cydia store, which is a standalone tweak and lets its users disable Notification Center in all apps running in full screen mode. So, this implies that you don't need separate NC disablers for games and other apps, as DisableNC Switch works its magic on all the apps in your jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Read More

View The Location Of Any Smartphone Or Internet-Enabled Phone With Space-time For iPhone

Space-time-Map.jpg
Find My Friends by Apple (reviewed here) is a pretty decent app for always knowing the current location of your contacts. Apart from that, there are many other similar apps available in the App Store that perform essentially the same task. So, why should another location-tracking app be covered by us? Simply owing to the fact that Space-time is different from all the apps of its genre. First of all, Space-time will not eat up your battery unnecessarily, as it does not run in the background, but comes into action only when you have to request a friend’s location. Another advantage this app holds over similar apps is the fact that your friends won’t be stalked indefinitely after they allow access to their location just once. Space-time sends its location requests via SMS, and you will have to send a new SMS through the app each time you want to know where your friend is. Read More

SMS Flash: View Received SMS As Toast Notifications, Reply via Proximity Sensor Gestures [Android]

SMS-Flash-Android-Sample3
As a regular GO SMS Pro user, what I personally like about the popular Android messaging app is its ability to display pop-ups for received text messages anywhere in the OS. However, said feature of the app doesn’t always work, specifically with games and other full-screen apps, which eventuates in me missing out on important text messages at times. New to the Google Play Store, SMS Flash is an Android app that resolves said issue. Once the app is installed and activated, it displays each new received message via a customizable toast notification (a tile overlay containing text that appears for a short period of time). Whether you’re playing a game, watching a movie or working with any full-screen app, SMS Flash ensures that you have your latest texts right before your eyes so that you do not have to leave the current screen. As the app’s name suggests, each SMS appears for a short time, after which it automatically disappears from the screen, and this is where the most interesting facet of SMS Flash comes into play. The app utilizes your device’s proximity sensor to provide you with ample control over the flash duration, appearance, and most importantly, the way in which you can respond to the received texts by interacting with the proximity sensor.
