Back in June we reviewed MS Security Essentials
when it was in beta. Today, Microsoft plans to remove the beta tag and make it available to the public. Yes, you will finally be able to download the free antivirus from Microsoft later today.
Personally, I am a huge fan of Avast 5 Free Antivirus
because it is technically free and up to par with all paid antivirus software out there. I dumped Norton Antivirus way back in 2005 because it ate too much system resources and crashed my computer all the time. But I have been hearing rave reviews of the latest Norton Antivirus 2010 recently.
Today Avast has released the beta version of their upcoming Avast 5 Free Antivirus software for testing purpose only. The full version is expected to hit in October, there is no word if it will be released before or after Windows 7 launch.

Are you fed up of reinstalling your Windows due to Malware or Spyware? Or you think that your computer might have gotton hijacked? This is where HijackThis
comes in, it will Scan Your Registry
and various other files for entries that are similar to what a Spyware or Hijacker Program would leave behind. Interpreting these results can be tricky as there are many legitimate programs that are installed in your operating system in a similar manner that Hijackers get installed.
In TrendMicro's own words,
HijackThis lists the contents of key areas of the Registry and hard drive--areas that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers. The program is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs and URLs, only the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.

There are no doubt plenty of free antivirus software out there, half of which don’t even detect important viruses. If you think your computer has a virus, but your antivirus software is not detecting it, then the best way to test it is to create your own virus and then scan it. If virus is detected then it means your antivirus is just okay, if not, this means you need to download a new antivirus software. I am using AVG Free Antivirus and I will recommend this to everyone, keep it updated and I can guarantee that no virus will ever infect your computer again.
