Popular applications such as, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word provide multiple format options in both open and save dialog boxes. This is obviously useful but also annoying for advanced users who work with selected formats only. The best method is to hide the unused formats so that it becomes easier to locate and select the frequently used formats.
Formats Customizer is a simple tool that lets user remove the unused formats from both Open and Save dialog box. Once started, it will simply sit in the system tray and start monitoring the supported applications, which include Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Corel Photo-Paint, QuarkXPress, MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Paint.
Right-click the system tray icon and choose “Customize Formats”. Now select the application from the list and to make both Input and Output formats to appear, you will have to both Open and Save dialog boxes of that application.
Unchecking a format will hide it from the lists, the simple two pane interface makes it quicker to filter the formats from the dialog boxes. The best part is that configuring the formats for any specific program does not require restart of that program.
Double-click the system tray icon to enable or disable the app. Useful for developers who want to bring back the rarely used formats back to the list quickly.
The program is awesomely easy to use and works magically without any additional configuration. Sadly, it is only available for 32-bit OS at the moment. It works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Support for 64-bit OS will be added soon in the future releases.
