Get The Windows 7 Start Menu On Windows 10 [Paid]

One of the most anticipated things about Windows 10 is the return of the Start Menu. It’s changed quite a lot over the year with each new Windows 10 build that Microsoft released and is now (as per build 10130) a pretty decent mix of the old Start Menu in Windows 7 and XP and the Start Screen introduced in Windows 8/8.1. It’s being received well but there’s a chance that some still might not warm up to it. With Windows 8/8.1, developers were quick to roll out solutions that gave users the much missed Start Menu. In Windows 10, these apps become redundant if all you want is the Start Menu. If however, you don’t like the new look of it and would still prefer something closer to what you had in Windows 7, Startisback++ is the solution. It’s a windows app worth $2.99 with a 30 day trial that brings the Windows 7 Start Menu to Windows 10.

You need only download and install the app (it doesn’t try to sneak in any toolbars or additional software) and the Start Menu will change to look more like the Windows 7 one. In our tests, it did exceptionally well and retained the Windows 10 icons for Settings, This PC and more. It didn’t play well in Tablet mode though.

Startisback++ offers a lot of great customization options and if you like, you can even replace the new Windows icon used for the Start Menu with the classic Windows 7 orb. The Start Menu can be toggled with the Windows button on your keyboard. You can also configure the icon size, its appearance, and how you open it. To access the Start Menu settings, right-click on the Start button and click Properties. Cortana is supported in Search but must first be turned on.

  2. Yeah, right, you should stay on win7 if you want the win7 start menu, just ignore the rest of the feature that W10 can offer. /s

  3. What I dont understand is WHY????
Windows 10 is very very sleek, if you want the Win 7 Start Menu then stay with Win 7.

    • Everyone is different, got different needs and tastes. It’s better to have an opportunity to change the Start menu than not having it at all – and that happened once in Windows 8; MS blocked possibility of replacing Start button with 3rd party tools because they believed that user once forced to use Metro will learn using it and accept the wicked idea of having tablet interface on desktop computer. And as we know, that approach failed miserably.

I’ve tested that Start menu replacement and it’s good and still grants access to new Start panel by keyboard shortcut. It’s a win-win scenario.
