How to fix the com.apple.mobilephone error 1035

The com.apple.mobilephone error 1035 error is a unique iPhone error. It doesn’t appear on a desktop system when you try to sync or back up your iPhone. Instead, this error appears on the iPhone itself. It appears to be an iOS error but it is actually a problem with your voicemail.

The com.apple.mobilephone error 1035 error appears in one of two cases; your voicemail has not been set up, or your voicemail has been reset. If there has been a change in your network settings that impact your voicemail, or you’ve switched to a different network. In most cases, you will have to set your voicemail up again. Here are a few things you can try in addition to setting up voicemail to fix the problem. 

1. Toggle Airplane mode

Your device might be experiencing connectivity problems. The first, and simplest way to fix this is to toggle Airplane mode.

  1. Swipe down from the top right corner to open the Control Center.
  2. Tap the Airplane mode toggle to turn on Airplane mode.
  3. Wait 1-2 minutes.
  4. Tap the Airplane mode toggle to turn Airplane mode off.

2. Switch to mobile data

If you’re connected to a WiFi network, try switching over to mobile data to see if the problem goes away. If it does, your WiFi network is causing issues connecting to voicemail.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap WiFi and turn the switch off.
  3. Tap on Mobile data.
  4. Turn the Mobile data switch On.

3. Set up Voicemail

If all else fails, set up your Voicemail. It is a good idea to make sure that your network has voicemail, that it is supported on the iPhone, and that your subscription plan includes voicemail.

  1. Turn WiFi on your iPhone on.
  2. Open the Phone app.
  3. Press and hold the 1 button.
  4. Voicemail set up will start (it will go through as a call).
  5. Follow the instructions to set it up.

4. Reset network settings

The com.apple.mobilephone error 1035 error may simply be a problem with your network settings. The network settings can be reset and that will fix any problems with it. Resetting the network settings will remove all saved networks that you’ve ever connected to but there is no risk of data loss.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Go to General.
  3. Scroll down and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. From the menu, select Reset network settings.
  6. Your iPhone will restart.

Conclusion 

Problems with voicemail are known to occur on certain networks; AT&T is one of those networks but in most cases setting up voicemail will fix the problem. If you do not want to use voicemail, ask your carrier to disable it.
