Before You Download the Jarvis VOD Kodi Addon – Install a VPN
When streaming video content on any unofficial Kodi addon, it is always advisable to use a VPN. This is because some unofficial addons can enable you to access copyrighted content. Copyright holders have taken exception to this and some Kodi users have found themselves in receipt of legal letters or facing further legal action as a result of their streaming habits. But a VPN can help to protect you against these risks. It will encrypt all of your online data and also change your IP Address which helps to keep your online activity private and safe from prying eyes. A VPN is now an essential tool for Kodi users and the biggest dilemma is not whether to use a VPN, but which one to choose.
The best VPN for Kodi – IPVanish
For our money, the best VPN on the market right now for Kodi users is IPVanish. That is because it offers the fast and consistent connection speeds that Kodi users need to stream content easily and reliably. IPVanish also combines these speeds with strong encryption and top privacy protections too. They have a no user logs guarantee that you can trust and it is this combination that makes IPVanish perfect for Kodi users. But there is more. IPVanish has a server network consisting of more than 850 servers in 60 countries around the world. There have no restrictions on either file types or data amounts you can use either. And IPVanish also offers apps for just about every device imaginable too, including the Amazon Firestick, which is very popular with Kodi users. So, in conclusion, IPVanish offers everything a Kodi user needs from a VPN and is the best on the market right now.
IPVanish offers a 7-day money back guarantee which means you have a week to test it risk-free. Please note that Addictive Tips readers can save a massive 60% here on the IPVanish annual plan, taking the monthly price down to only $4.87/mo.
How to Install the Jarvis VOD Kodi Addon
There are a number of new Kodi addons emerging in 2018 as the Kodi community reels from a series of popular addons being taken down towards the end of last year. The trend seems to be for developers to push out addons on their own repositories rather than place it in an established one. This is the case with Jarvis VPD too, which can be found in the eponymous Jarvis Repository. You may not have heard of this repository before, it is perfectly safe to use and the download process is an easy one too. To help you out, we have compiled a simple step-by-step guide for you to follow:
- Open Kodi and click on the Settings icon, which looks like a gear wheel and is located in the top left of the screen.
- Click on the File Manager tab at the bottom of the screen, then double-click on Add Source which is on the left-hand side of your screen.
- A pop-up box should appear with Add File Source as its title. Click where it says <None> and then enter the following URL exactly: http://projectjarvis.tv/. Click OK and then give this new source a name, such as Jarvis, before clicking OK again.
- Go back to the Kodi home page and this time click on Addons.
- Next, click on the Addon Browser icon, which looks like an open box and is located in the top left of the screen.
- Click Install from zip file, then select Jarvis and click on repository.jarvis.zip. Click OK and this will install the Jarvis Repository onto your Kodi.
- Now go back to the Addon browser menu and click Install from repository. Then, scroll down the page to find the Team Jarvis repository.
- Open it and then click Video addons. Click on the Jarvis VOD addon and then click Install. This will download and install Jarvis VOD onto your Kodi. You will again receive a notification in the top right of the screen when it has been installed successfully.
- Go back to the Kodi home screen and click on Add-ons again. The Jarvis VOD addon will now be listed under Video Addons and will be ready to use.
Jarvis VOD Addon Review
The main menu of the Jarvis VOD Kodi addon looks at first glance to be a confusing one. It is not a long menu, but the titles given to each option are far from clear. This is a questionable decision on part of the developers given that many Kodi users like their addons to be as pared-back and simple to use as possible. The Jarvis VPD addon cannot be accused of being either of those, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a lot of good content or that there isn’t plenty of fun to be had in using it. Let’s see if we can help you by deciphering what some of the different menu options point to:
This option opens up a short list of genres and appears to be a compilation of “Critter’s” favourite TV shows and movies. You can choose from TV Shows, Action, Animation, Comedy, Drama-Romance, Gangster, Horror, or Christmas Movies. Each will lead you to a decent rundown of content which fits that genre. These are listed alphabetically with the year and a decent synopsis also available.
This section offers a different pick of movies and TV shows. The set-up is simpler here, with a sub-menu offering just Neo’s Movies and Neo’s TV Shows to choose from. They both offer a seemingly random selection of content, again listed alphabetically and with plenty of information to tell you what they are.
As the name suggests this menu option will open a list of around 50 sports-related movies. The sports theme is consistent throughout, but some have a more tenuous sporting link than others. This list is in no discernible order but does offer plenty of great movies.
This is a more unusual option for an all-in-one addon, and sadly the Jarvis VOD selection of game shows is a short one. But there are still some great game shows listed and if you are into this sort of thing, there are still a few you will enjoy.
In the current climate, it is questionable to stereotype movies as being chick-flicks, but Jarvis VOD has taken the plunge. This option has a selection of romantic comedies and other movies which are generally seen as being mostly aimed at a female audience. If that’s your thing, there is plenty to explore here.
Just In Anime
As the name suggests, this section has a decent pick of Japanese animated content for you to choose from. Anime is hugely popular around the world so its inclusion is a shrewd move from the Jarvis VOD developers.
Joe The Slayer
This section appears to be loosely themed on fantasy content, although the actually list currently includes content based on computer games and some horror stuff as well. There are a few titles here that we haven’t seen available elsewhere though, so its worth a look if you are into this sort of thing.
This is the menu tab most people will be coming back to again and again. It is a simple and well-designed option which allows you to search movies or TV shows using an alphabetical list of different genres. The eventual list of content will be in no obvious order, but there is still plenty of interesting content to explore.
This option takes you to a selection of recent and popular content. Options include Popular, Top Rated, Now Playing, and a link to the Search facility too.
Under this option, you can find a long, but not enormous, list of IPTV channels you can stream live. It is a decent list, but nothing like as long as the ones you will find on IPTV-specific addons.
Movies By Year
As the name suggests, this is another useful option which allows you to search for movies by the year that they were released.
Jarvis VOD Kodi Addon Pros and Cons
There is much to praise about the Jarvis VOD Kodi addon, but it is not without its issues. We were not impressed by their main menu which included many options which made little sense until you clicked on them to see what was on offer. It seems likely that most users will stick to options such as Genres and Movies by Year, rather than picking through the random lists which are almost available. These simple features work really well and it is to be hoped that the developers focus on making these better rather than the more quirky menu tabs which many users will not click on twice.
Once you do find the movie or TV show you want, there is much to praise. The lists of content provide plenty of information and a good image to help you choose the right movie. Once you do click on a movie, you will be offered a list of links which clearly state the quality of the stream, so you can choose the best one based on your requirements and internet connection. Once you do start streaming, the quality of streams appeared to match the description in our testing and we didn’t find a single broken link in all the ones we tried.
Jarvis VOD is not perfect. It has a number of bizarre and frankly unnecessary menu options that offer more frustration than interesting content. But when Jarvis VOD keeps it simple, it has all the hallmarks of a great all-in-one addon, with lots of mainstream and more obscure content and no issues with broken or outdated links that we could find. It is a young addon and hopefully, the developers can push it in the right direction in the weeks and months ahead. If they can, Jarvis VOD has the potential to be a must-have Kodi addon.
