In this post we will be covering new FLOOR function, which produces results with utter precision. Through FLOOR.PRECISE function you can evaluate accurate floor values. The syntax of FLOOR.PRECISE function is exactly same as FLOOR function, requires two arguments to be passed for final evaluation.
Launch Excel 2010 spreadsheet on which you want to apply FLOOR function. For instance, we have included a spreadsheet containing fields; S.no, Values and FLOOR.
FLOOR function returns a number rounded down based on a multiple of significance, i.e, the closet and lowest value for the specified number, for example for 1.20 the floor value will be 1. For this we will be using new FLOOR.PRECISE function. The syntax of the function is;
In function arguments, number refers to data value for which we need to find out floor value and significance refers to specified multiple which defines the range for floor value.
We will be writing it in first row of FLOOR field as;
In function arguments, B2 is the location of the cell for which we are finding out floor value and 1 is specified multiple. It will yield 0 as for 0.765, the closet whole number is 0.
Drag the plus sign at the end of the cell towards the end of column to apply function over the whole field.
For using this function exclusively for a direct value, write it as;
It will yield the closet multiple of 1.5 as shown below.
