How To: Root And Unroot Samsung Galaxy S i9000 With A Single Click

galaxysi9000oneclick

Finally there is some great news for Samsung Galaxy S i900 owners looking for an easy and painless root method. Senior Member, TGA_Gunnman, at XDA Forums has released a one click rooting tool for Samsung Galaxy S which not only roots Android 2.1 Eclair and Android 2.2 Froyo, but also gives you a one click unroot option.

Here is the step by step guide on rooting and unrooting Samsung Galaxy S with a single click:

If you are planning to use this guide on Windows X86 or X64 then make sure to download Samsung drivers before embarking on the root process. This rooting application requires Dot Net Framework Version 4 to work.

  • The first step is to enable USB debugging mode on your device. You can enable USB debugging on your phone by going to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development and check mark USB Debugging.
  • Now download Galaxy S i9000 one click root file, extract the contents and save them on your desktop [or wherever your prefer].
  • Now connect your phone to the computer and double click on Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root file.
  • Now simply click One-Click Root 2.1 or 2.2 on the screen and follow the onscreen command mode instructions to complete the root process. Please note that for One-click root 2.1, your phone needs to be running Android 2.2 2.1 Eclair and for One-click Root 2.2, Android 2.2 Froyo.
  • In case you are using this application to unroot your phone then simply follow the instructions above and click on One-click Unroot.

Update: Now you can also one-click root/unroot Samsung Galaxy S with Mac OS. The detailed guide is posted here.

  32. Hi..

I noticed from the start of having this phone that I could not put it into recovery/download mode. Ive tried every steps I found on the internet. (vol up+home+power), (vol down+home+power), vol up+vol down+power) etc.. So I rooted my sgs using the one click rooting software. It worked fine. So when I wanted to install the lag fix, I use the same one click root software but replaced the rooting file with the lag fix file. It also worked fine and my sgs was fast and snappy! But my intro samsung logo graphics was not visible anymore but there was sound, other than that everything worked fine.

Yesterday I was curious on what will happen if I run the MDS lag fix again. I selected the 1024kb option and it started to create 1gb file again and an error occured and my sgs stalled. I pull out the battery and restart. Came out the samsung galaxy s GT-1900 intro screen. Intro sound effects came out (no logo graphics).. nthen blank screen all the way! Its not booting to the home screen…. Ive tried batt pull and recovery/download mode combo buttons many times! Nothing works.. it just starts up the intro screen + sound and then just dark evil black screen for eternity… I dont know what else to do. Hope you can give any advice. Im running out of buttons to experiment! I think I have officially bricked it. Even flashing wont work until I get my recovery/download mode work in the first place. :’(

  33. This did not work for either. I have 2.2 and it gives me error. And it says volume button to toggle and press power, but the power button does nothing.

  34. I’m also a Mac user. I get the message;
    E.Verification failed.
I’ve tried the power key, it’s wrong. I get no result other than a turned off phone. I hit the home key and I get that message. I’ve taken out the SD card and gotten a different error message. ALso, WTF is all this “mounting’ and Unmounting” When I plug in, I get
    1. Charge
    2. Mass Storage
    3. Tether
    there is no other option.
    thank you

  35. i get the same error as bob “– Install from sdcard…
    Finding update package…
    Opening update package…

  36. For recently issued Captivates – (I have Model number: SAMSUNG-SGH-I1897) you might get the following error. There seems to be a more recent (or more generic) version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304 …
    -bob

    — Install from sdcard…

  37. wow, this makes a difference.
    The lag fix is incredible.
I tried this by entering recovery mode on the phone, wrked first time, nz galaxy s

  38. hi guys, not working for me , apply sdcard:update.zip n home button, but still giving error in the end… its the internal sd card so the update.zip file should be there automatically or i have to put it there by myself , because the error shows that it search update.zip file in sd card,,,or is there any other step i have to follow,,,thks !

  39. hello guys, I come with some answers…
I succeeded rooting my phone by
    – selecting apply sdcard:update.zip
    – pressing HOME BUTTON instead of POWER BUTTON

  40. Why not to make everyone happy w/o any problem, show us in the video like youtube or etc.. So tat will be aesy for us to follow the steps??

  41. I followed every step exactly but nothing happen to my samsung glaxy s. When I click One click root 2.1 button, it shows 1. “Once you’re in the recovery click the volume button on the left side of the phone until “reinstall packages ” is highlighted”. But my samsung didn’t shows anything. Please advise.

  42. for the problems experienced by Roy, sam, phill971 and andy:
connect with your pc but don’t mount! “Reinstall packages” won’t appear either way, but “apply sdcard:update.zip” needs to be done. It fails when mounted (as sam says), but it works just fine when unmounted (like Stellen experienced)!

    • What do you mean with don’t mount? Should I plug it in and then click on “one click root 2.2” (for my samsung) ore how?

  43. I’ve tried it too but same problem with the other guys… Then I choosed apply sdcard:update.zip and it failed.. It was saying verification error ore something… How can i fix this?

  44. To those of you who had problems. I seemed to have the same. But I chose the “apply sdcard:update.zip” and pressed the HOME KEY not the power button. Then it worked!

  45. hey,
I’ve tried to use your steps, but when I m following the steps from the “on-screen command” something is wrong. It says : “Once you’re in the recovery click the volume button on the left side of the phone until “reinstall packages ” is highlighted” . The thing is I do not have on the mobile’s screen such option(reinstall packages). +
    I have only these :
    reboot system now
    apply sdcard:update.zip
    wipe data/ factory reset
    wipe cache partition

    Any suggestion?
    Thank you,
    Andy

    • apply sdcard:update.zip

thats the one. hightlight it then press the power button or the menu button. and it will install..

      thanks

    • when I try to do what you have suggested above, the recovery console says it can’t find update.zip at /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip

      what am i doing wrong?

      thanks

  46. Step 4.. do you mean “One-click root 2.1, your phone needs to be running Android 2.1 Eclair” instead of Android 2.2 Eclair” ?
