Hit iOS 3D Platformer Temple Run Now Available On Android

Get ready to jump and run away from that angry pack of chasing simians. Yep, you guessed it right, I’m talking about Temple Run by Imangi Studios. Our favorite, Indiana Jones look-alike, after enjoying a successful run on the iOS App Store, is back to do the same on the Android platform. Temple Run is about escaping a violent group of demon monkeys running after you. The game doesn’t provide much of a background story, but as it appears, our hero must have stolen something of great value to the apes. Be warned that the game is extremely addictive. Once you start playing and competing with your friends for the highest score, you will never want to stop. Read on for an in-depth review of the game.

When you hit Play, the protagonist rushes out of a cave and starts running. The game doesn’t have much of a variety in terms of gameplay, and it feels as if you’re playing the same level again and again. Your aim is to outrun your enemies, and collect as many coins as you can. Temple Run uses a system of reward points. You can use these reward points to redeem single-use items like an extra life or character power-ups such as invisibility. You can even get entirely new characters. The controls consist of tilting the device to move left or right, while using different swipe gestures to jump, slide and take sharp turns. Due to its ultra-fast gameplay, the game requires some quick reflexes.

From within the game’s preferences screen, you can adjust tilt sensitivity, music, sound or turn the tutorial on/off. You can also head to Objectives to have a look at your current achievements, ranging from number of meters ran to the total coins you have collected.

In terms of design and environment, the game isn’t all that different from the original iOS version. Why fix it if it ain’t broken, right? Though, the 3D graphics are average-looking. The backdrops may remind you of those good old Tomb Raider days. The fascinating background music too fits well with the overall game design.
