Bloons TD 6 on Linux

Bloons TD 6 does work on Linux, but only with the Steam Play compatibility tool’s help. This tool will allow you to run Windows software on Linux. To get started with the Steam Play tool, you need to install the Linux Steam client.

Install Steam

To get the Steam Linux client working on your Linux PC, open up a terminal window. Once the terminal window is open and ready to use, follow the command-line installation instructions outlined below that correspond with the Linux OS you currently use.

Ubuntu

On Ubuntu, installing Steam is relatively easy. Just use the Apt command below to get it working.

sudo apt install steam

Debian

On Debian, installing Steam isn’t as easy as using apt-get install. Instead, you must download the Steam DEB package from the internet and use the dpkg tool to get it working.

wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb
sudo dpkg -i steam.deb

Arch Linux

Are you using Arch Linux and need to get the latest release of Steam for Linux working on your Linux PC? First, ensure you have the “multilib” software repository set up on your computer. After that, execute the following command.

sudo pacman -S steam

Fedora/OpenSUSE

On Fedora and OpenSUSE, it is possible to get the Steam for Linux client installed natively, but the instructions are rather tedious. So, instead, we highly recommend setting up the client using the Flatpak instructions.

Flatpak

Flatpak has the Steam app packaged up, and that’s great for those that can’t get Steam installed on their Linux PC in any other way. If you want to install Steam via Flatpak, the first thing you must do is set up the Flatpak runtime on your system by following this guide.

After setting up the Flatpak runtime on your computer, you will need to set up the Flathub app store. Flathub is the most popular Flatpak distribution store, and Steam is available there. To enable Flathub, enter the command below.

flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

Now that the Flathub app store is set up on your Linux PC, you can finish up the Flatpak Steam installation process by executing the following flatpak install command below.

flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
