How to find and install Netflix games

Netflix has produced quite a few original titles, both movies and series, that have been a hit. As with most media titles that are popular, games have been developed around some of the more popular Netflix movies and games. Bandersnatch has been developed on the Choose your own adventure model of novels. There is also a decent number of mobile games developed by Netflix for titles like Stranger things.

Netflix games

Netflix games are available for iOS and Android. You won’t find game to play on your PC or a console but there are a few different titles that you can play on your phone. The games are free to play however, you must have a Netflix account (and a subscription) to play them.

The Netflix games tab

If you keep the Netflix app up to date, you will see a new Games tab at the bottom. Go to this games tab and you will see a list of the available games. At present, there are five titles that are available;

  1. Stranger Things: 1984
  2. Stranger Things 3: The Game
  3. Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop)
  4. Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games)
  5. Teeter Up (Frosty Pop)

Go to the Games tab, and select the game you want to play. You will be able to download and play it.

The games are all available however, the tab may not be visible to all Netflix accounts just yet. That doesn’t mean you cannot play the game. It only means you have to search for and download it from the app store for your phone.

Manually download Netflix games

The key to downloading the official Netflix games is to know what the game is called, and to make sure the title you’re downloading has been developed by Netflix. Developer information is available on the details page/card of a game on both the App Store and the Google Play Store.

  1. Open the Google Play Store on Android or the App Store on iOS.
  2. Look for a Netflix game e.g. Stranger Things: 1984.
  3. Verify the developer is Netflix.
  4. Download the game (enter your Google or Apple ID password if needed).
  5. Open the game.
  6. Select the Netflix profile you want to play as (each profile gets its own separate game profile and score card).
  7. Start the game.

Conclusion

If you open a game after downloading it directly from your phone’s respective app store, you may be asked to login to your Netflix account. If you have the Netflix app installed on your phone, this generally shouldn’t happen. That said, use the Netflix account and you’ll be good to go. There is no restriction on what type/tier account you must have to play the games. Users can play it regardless if they have the cheapest or most expensive plan.
