Watching Nasukawa vs Mayweather

One of the key differences between the Mayweather-Nasukawa match and most other boxing or MMA bouts is the country it’s being held in. This fight is being promoted by Rizin FF, which is based in Japan, meaning content streaming and pay per view rights are vastly different than before. Below is all we know about the current sources to watch Mayweather take on Nasukawa this December.

Streaming from Japan

Most Rizin FF matches are streamed for free on Japanese television. Occasionally a foreign media outlet such as Spike TV in the U.S. will air the event in other countries, but this usually happens on a time delay. The last Rizin-Spike partnership meant fans in North America had to wait three hours to see the event.

Waiting for local streams can be advantageous, as you’ll get commentary in a language other than Japanese. If you do stream Rizin 14 directly from the feed, you’ll get the action as it happens, but you’ll only have color commentary by the original Japanese announcers.

If you have access to Japanese television stations, Rizin bouts are usually shown on Fuji TV. Tune in on December 31 at 7 p.m. Japanese time and you can enjoy the event in its entirety.

Stream replays on Fite.TV

The Fite.TV streaming service has started offering replays of all Rizin events aired in their entirety, unedited and unchanged. Viewers will get full access to the six hour event, complete with all preliminary cards and commentary by the original announcers (in Japanese). Fite.TV is available on desktop/laptop PCs, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and streaming devices such as Roku, Chromecast, and Apple TV.

The only real downside to this method is you can’t watch the Mayweather-Nasukawa fight live, you have to wait for Fite.TV to make their stream available, which can take hours, days, or even longer. It’s definitely the easiest and most convenient way to catch the action, however, and it’s extremely affordable, too. Rizin fights are available to purchase and stream legally from Fite.TV for $19.99. To get started, check the Fite.TV Rizin channel and watch for the Rizin 14 match to show up.

Live viewing on ForJoyTV

The ForJoyTV streaming service is designed for Japanese expats and emigrants who miss watching live networks and other content from home. The subscription service features more than 70 channels straight from Japan and allows for limited DVR recording as well as live viewing on PC, mobile device, and other hardware. It’s safe, simple, and legal, and it offers the right access to channels to catch Rizin fights as they air. Note that the interface is in Japanese, so you’ll need some knowledge about the language before subscribing.

Watching from other countries

Announcements have yet to be made as to which networks will carry the Rizin 14 match-up around the world. A few channels have carried Rizin fights in the past, however, and they’ll likely do the same once the Mayweather vs Tenshin battle begins.

The Russia-based MatchTV service often rebroadcasts Rizin fights to a wider audience. It will feature the original Japanese commentary with no alterations. You can visit the site on the day it airs and click on the Live TV link at the top of the page (ПРЯМОЙ ЭФИР). Alternatively, head straight to the broadcast stream, refresh the page, and enjoy: https://matchtv.ru/on-air

Note that MatchTV may restrict content based on location. If you’re located outside of Russia, it’s possible you’ll need to use a VPN, switch servers to a Russian location, and load the stream manually.

Two other networks that frequently broadcast Rizin matches are ESPN and Spike TV. Both are based in the United States, and both tend to show bouts on a multi-hour time delay. On the plus side, they generally do include English commentary for the matches. No official announcement has been released whether or not these networks will show the Mayweather vs Nasukawa fight.

Will the fight be on pay per view?

There’s a good chance a broadcast company, streaming service, or cable network will bid for the pay per view rights of Mayweather vs Nasukawa. After all, it’s one of the biggest bouts in the last few years, marking the return of formerly retired Mayweather after his fight with McGregor in 2017. Sports fans around the world are eager to watch this drama unfold in real time!

At the time of writing, however, no company has purchased the pay per view rights for the fight in any country. This is both good news and bad news, as it means fighting fans may have to do a little work to watch the event as it happens, but they could save a lot of money in the process.

More streaming resources

The Mayweather vs Nasukawa fight is arguably the largest fight Rizin has ever broadcast. Because of this, there may be new international deals struck up just to make sure fans around the world can catch the action. While nothing has been announced as of yet, keep your eyes open for new and convenient sources of boxing action in the near future.

Using a VPN to watch Mayweather vs Nasukawa

So far, the options for watching the Rizin 14 match seem pretty limited (unless you live in Japan). The good news is that with the right VPN you can cut through a lot of those barriers and access content on several other resources, including live streams online. Below we’ll walk you through the entire process step by step so you can stay safe while watching your favorite sports.

The first step is to choose a streaming source. Most people will stick with MatchTV, since it’s a convenient source for live internet-based streams, no cable subscription required. Head to https://matchtv.ru/on-air to visit the live stream home page. Note that it won’t show the Rizin 14 match until December 31 at 7 p.m. JST.

MatchTV restricts its streams to certain countries. If you don’t live there, you’ll have to switch your VPN to use an IP address in that area in order to gain access. Simply open your VPN software and visit the server browser. For MatchTV, you’ll want a server located within Russia. Choose a node and connect right away.

You’ll now want to verify your IP address to make sure everything is working. With your VPN connected to a Russian server, open a web browser and go to ipleak.net. Wait for the page to load and it will run an IP address lookup. Look at the box beneath where it says Your IP address. If it shows Russia, you’re ready to watch Rizin via MatchTV.

Go back to your browser and reload MatchTV. You should see the stream start up immediately. When the fight begins, follow these steps and you’ll have full access.

Floyd Mayweather vs Tenshin Nasukawa – What you need to know

Nasukawa vs Mayweather will be one amazing fight. The bout pits two undefeated champions against each other, each masters of their own respective sport. Below is all the information you need on the fighters and the match itself.

When will the fight take place?

The original announcement for Mayweather vs Nasukawa scheduled the bout for 7 p.m. on December 31, 2018, taking place at the Saitama Super Arena. That was before Mayweather apparently backed out of the deal, however. When the fight was resumed a week later, the official word on when it will take place was “to be announced”. So far, signs point to the battle happening on New Year’s Eve, just as before.

Is Mayweather vs Nasukawa canceled?

There was some confusion about whether or not the Mayweather vs Nasukawa bout would even take place. After talking up the exhibition to the press, Mayweather reportedly did a 180 and backed out of the Rizin FF fight less than a week later, saying he never agreed to an official match-up, only a private meeting in front of wealthy spectators. Not long after, Mayweather reversed his reversal and said the fight would be on, though instead of an anything-goes UFC-style match, it would be pure boxing, “no kicks allowed”.

Oscar De La Hoya later stated that Mayweather’s apparent indecision was simply a ploy for attention, as the boxer would never really step up and fight in MMA. Regardless of the inspiration, the Mayweather vs Nasukawa boxing exhibition could turn out to be the highest paid combat meet-up in history.

Battle of the undefeated

Mayweather has an impressive 50-0 record in boxing, making him one of the biggest champions in recent years. Nasukawa has an equally impressive 27-0 record in kickboxing. The two athletes are at the top of their game in their respective sports. Creating a match-up between them means one will walk away with their first professional defeat.

The big question on most fans’ minds is which combat style will shape the match: boxing or MMA. The former gives Mayweather an advantage, while the latter gives Nasukawa an advantage. So far the details suggest boxing will be the central focus, though that could change in time.

Another interesting fact is the fighters’ difference in age. Nasukawa is just 20 years old, while Mayweather will turn 42 in February. Age, weight, speed, and experience all add up to play crucial roles in this upcoming bout.

Watching Rizin FF matches outside of Japan is notoriously finicky. With the tips above, and with a reliable VPN, you can be part of the action as it happens. And best of all, you won’t have to jump through a ton of hoops to see who emerges victorious.
