Install Android 2.2 FroYo on HTC Legend

Are you still stuck with Android 2.1 Éclair on your HTC Legend? Thanks to BlaY0 at XDA-Developers who has released a ROM based on the stock HTC FroYo WWE 3.15.405.3 Android release, you can now flash Android 2.2 FroYo to your device.

Follow these steps at your own risk since attempting to install a custom ROM to your device might lead to some issues.

Head over to the download link provided below to grab a copy of the Android 2.2 FroYo ROM. Next, root your phone if you haven’t already done so.

Now connect your device to the computer using USB, mount the SD card and copy the downloaded ROM to the SD card’s root folder. Make sure you copy the .zip file and do NOT extract its contents.

Turn off your device and switch it back on by keeping its Power and Volume Down buttons pressed until the bootloader screen appears.

Scroll to ‘Fastboot’, then ‘Recovery’ and wait while the phone boots into recovery mode.

Scroll to ‘Wipe Data’ and select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ followed by ‘wipe dalvik cache’ to wipe your phone, following the instructions wherever prompted.

Scroll to ‘Apply .zip from SD card’ and select the .zip file for the ROM that you copied to the SD card earlier. Allow it to flash and once it’s done, simply reboot your phone and you’re done!

You now have Android 2.2 FroYo running on your HTC Legend. If any of these steps didn’t work, start over and retry. In case of any problems, contact the developer at XDA-Developers forum using the link provided at the end of this article.
