Unlock LG G-Slate Bootloader On Honeycomb 3.1 [How To]

We have confirmation that the LG G-Slate bootloader has been unlocked! Finally, owners of the G-Slate have something to be excited about after what has been a very slow and boring time when it comes to mods. Things seem to be falling perfectly into place now, with the device being rooted on Honecyomb 3.1, ClockworkMod recovery being made available, though not fully, and now the bootloader has been unlocked. This means custom ROM’s, themes and more could follow in anytime. Unlike the very first rooting procedure that we once covered – tedious method – unlocking the bootloader has been made quite easy. Credit goes to ChiefzReloaded, Dasunsrule32 and Deez1234 for coming up with this.

Requirements:

• A rooted LG G-slate running Honeycomb 3.1. See our guide on rooting the LG G-Slate On Honeycomb 3.1.
• (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8148018/trythis.zip) Bootloader unlock package.
• (https://goo.gl/QWhT4) LG Drivers.
• (https://goo.gl/nU6YO) ClockworkMod Recovery 5.5.0.2.
• (https://goo.gl/6Rv3v) Fastboot for Windows | (https://goo.gl/tnXFl) for Linux.

Instructions:

1. To begin, download the, recovery and Fastboot packages from the links above.
2. Extract the recovery and place it in the folder where fastboot.exe is.
3. Copy the bootloader unlock package to the root of your SD card.
4. Boot the device into fastboot mode and connect it to the computer via USB.
5. Open command prompt or terminal, navigate to the location of fastboot.exe and enter the following commands (For Windows and Linux respectively):

   ./fastboot oem unlock
   
   ./fastboot boot recovery.img

   or

   ./fastboot oem unlock
   
   ./fastboot boot recovery.img

6. In the recovery, navigate to Install ZIP from sdcard > Choose ZIP from sdcard and select the root.zip package.
7. Once the file is flashed, reboot the device.
