A screenwriter or script-writer, is a person who develops scripts for a movie, a TV series or any other media feature which is needed to be based around a story. He has to research his material, write dialogues for different characters and submit the script in a proper format. Trelby is a feature-rich screenwriting application that is designed in a way to make the screen writing process simple and less time consuming for you. It hosts a script editor, multiple views, its own name database containing more than 200,000 names from various countries and origins. It features a report generator that lets you create reports according to scene, location, character and dialogues, a compare tool to point out differences in two versions of the same script, and a lot of other useful utilities to support the screen-writing process. The application allows you to switch between full screen and windowed mode, enabling you to write according to your preference. Read on to find out more about Trelby.
The interface of the application has File, Edit, View, Script, Reports and Tools menu at the the top, while quick access buttons, such as New Script, Save, Script Settings, Print, Import/Export Script, Find & Replace, View Mode, Tools, Global Settings etc, are available on the left side.
Right-click inside the script editor to choose Element type or Paste copied script. Note that while testing, we were unable to paste any text copied from outside the application.
The Script menu at the top allows you to Find errors in page, toggle Auto-completion & add default words to the list, include Headers, Location, Titles pages and access the Spell checker dictionary.
Select Change from the Settings sub menu under Script to configure settings for Elements, Formatting, Paper, PDF, PDF/Fonts and Strings.
The View tab at the top allows you to change viewing style between Draft, Layout, Side by Side, Overview and Fullscreen. Check the Show Formatting option in order to view formatting of the whole document.
Tools such as Character name database, Spell Checker, Character map and Compare script allow users to easily generate a versatile and professional script.

Update: The developer was kind enough to point out that you can actually paste from external sources using the Edit > Paste option in the menu bar. Also, the Mac OS X version of this application isn’t available, as of yet.
