How To Root Samsung Continuum with SuperOneClick
Samsung Continuum is Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S series device similar in technical aspects to Fascinate except for the slightly smaller screen size and a unique ticker under the screen for displaying alerts and notifications. The device has recently been successfully rooted with SuperOneClick here is the method.
While SuperOneClick works for rooting a vast range of Android devices, it did not seem to work for Continuum but then, neither did several other popular rooting tools. Though XDA-Developers forum member mrjake1970 has managed to root it using SuperOneClick merely by not giving up upon failing for the first time, and giving it a second shot.
The key to getting SuperOneClick to successfully root Samsung Continuum lies in following these steps:

It really is this simple. Now that you have root access on your phone, you can install and use thousands of market as well as off-market apps on it that require a rooted device.
If you don’t want to follow this method, you can alternatively root your Continuum by first flashing ClockworkMod Recovery to it via Odin and then using the recovery to install rooted DL17 ROM to it.
once the phone is rooted, how can you use the Wifi to connect to the internet with out a service plan “verizon” carrier?
Can this be done?
Thanks
Make sure you install all drivers for the continuum, seemed to fix problem for me. thanks.
My superoneclick doesn’t respond to my continuum at all. Nothing happens period. I’ve installed a dozen different drivers all saying they go to the samsung continuum i400 but nothing.
I installed a driver pack from verizon and ran superoneclick. I ran shell root and plugged it in while it was waiting for the device. The root was succesful thanks for your help.
